BIOVANCE® helps move healing forward.
BIOVANCE is advanced wound care that helps wounds to heal.
A chronic wound is one that does not heal as it should. This may happen because of certain conditions like heart disease and diabetes, which can cause poor circulation.
If the wound is not healed, it may lead to other problems, such as decreased quality of life.
Three of the most common types of chronic wounds are:
Each of these wounds can share some common symptoms, including:
Recent advances in medicine have given doctors new tools to help treat chronic wounds. One of those advances is BIOVANCE from Celularity.
BIOVANCE is made from the amnion (inner layer) of the placenta, the part closest to the baby.
BIOVANCE is an allograft—material made from donated human tissue—used to help heal a stalled chronic wound.
BIOVANCE is derived from the inner lining of the human placenta, which helps nourish a baby during pregnancy. The placentas used in the manufacture of BIOVANCE are donated by new parents following a healthy, full-term pregnancy and live birth.
All placenta donors are tested for infectious diseases before the donation process. Once the baby of an approved donor has been delivered, the placenta is collected and sent to a Celularity lab for purification and processing. (The collection process occurs after labor and delivery—the baby is not at all affected.) At the lab, the placenta is washed and sterilized, and all of the donor’s living cells are removed.
BIOVANCE is regulated and approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB).
BIOVANCE provides a natural foundation for wound healing. Key cells and proteins move into the BIOVANCE material so that tissues can regenerate and wounds can continue to heal.
After the wound has been cleaned, BIOVANCE is placed on the surface of the wound. Depending on the procedure, it may not be visible at all. BIOVANCE is designed to stick to the wound surface without needing sutures. Your doctor will decide how to apply BIOVANCE to make sure it stays in place.
When BIOVANCE is used to help heal your wound, your doctor will give you instructions and tell you what to expect. You should keep the area clean and dry and follow your doctor’s instructions very carefully. You should not remove or disturb BIOVANCE once your doctor has applied it to your wound. Consult your doctor if you have any questions.
